Tart Nenas

Why is it so hard to find a decent nyummylicious tart nenas nowadays, is still a mystery to me. Hmmm.

(Amboi NOWADAYS konon. Padahal baru tahun ni discover yang tart nenas tu best! Kahkahkah)

Bought few different types of tart nenas and it all tasted awful oh my god whyyy?! I guess the commercial tart nenas (the ones they sold at proper kedai, my workplace for instance) isn't really what i am looking for. I want a traditional, full of kampung flavour one!

Yes, i am simply kampung like that.

Btw, what is my problemmmmm i have been googling a lot of recipes lately helppp! Not. That. I. Cook. Or. Bake. Any. Anyway.

Non-baked cheesecake.
Potato gratin.
Shepherd pie.
Creme brulee.
Aiskrim goreng.
Murtabak maggie. (I don't even eat murtabak HELPPP!)
Lasagna.
Puding roti with vanilla sauce.
Mashed potato.
Baked macaroni and cheese.
Nasi ayam.
Mi soto.
Tart nenas. (Since the 3rd raya, i kid you not!)

and when i said i googled, it usually is not the simple one tab of 'potato gratin', another tab of 'lasagna', and the next tab for 'shepherd pie'. it is ALWAYS 10 tabs of 'mashed potato' from nigella to dapur kak jee and then click 'Next Page' to another page of lots of awesome mashed potato recipes. and when i find one blog or web that i like, i click their other recipes too. that my dear, is my secret on how i feel like having murtabak maggi for a change.

TOO AMBITIOUS I DARE SAY, FOR SOMEONE WHO CAN'T EVEN COOK. (or bake a simple cornflakes madu but whatever okay?!)

The Nyummiest Chocolate Muffins Ever

guys, i think it's about time now, it's about time.

you know i've been observing and looking (or rather envying) some of my friends who are so good at baking and cooking for quite some time now. it's so lovely to have them feeding me with love (i mean muffins and cupcakes and all those high calories foods) every now and then, though in return i constantly gain in weight like 75 or 135 pounds every month. *merataphiba* oh come on, who can say no to those cute little muffins winking at you and begging you to eat them? you know i can't!

i'm so not good in cooking department, let alone BAKING. baking is a lot of hard work, those tiny little details are annoying - pre-heat your oven pftt vhat iz dhat?! everything needs to be measured meticulously (1 cup of this and half cup of that how do you know if it's the right size of cup, really?!), preparing and baking the muffins take you approximately 2 hours (even more at times!) and you can finish them all in 20 minutes top! pfttt so annoying kan?

but people, muffins and cupcakes are cute! girls love cute things. i am a girl therefore i love cute muffins. hehe.

so after days and days of denying the fact that i am succumbing myself to peer pressure, i finally retreat. (retreat, mampu?). had to admit that the girly side of me also wants to try baking haha pfttt! and this one favorite girl of mine is supporting me right to the core! man, i swear she keeps saying:

"tak susah babe ini pejam mata pun boleh buat. i punya resepi ni yang terpaling senang u takkan salah punya lah kalau u ikut measurement dia, senang gileee u cuba lah lepas u cuba sekali mesti u teruja nak buat lagi lain kali. baking is fun! seeing people eat your muffins - perasaan dia tak dapat digambarkan u kena cuba!"

she sounds like a tele-marketing people that bugs you everyday asking you to buy their product kan? hahaha and in the blink of an eye, i was sold. of course she is no ordinary tele-marketing people that promotes so convincingly even when the product sucks big time. the muffins she made is one of the best i've ever tasted okay and i kid you not peeps, it tasted PARADISE! or maybe it was just me - loving EVERYTHING sweet tapi you must try it yourselves guys baru tau! so effortlessly sedap! hehe.

and the day has finally come guys, i tried baking. I TRIED.

those above muffins were baked by Athirah for our super short post-result celebration vacation. i'm graduating soon, remember? ;) (yet to be shared here, kalau rajin which i highly doubt that).



so guys, you might want to imagine my muffins that will look exactly or almost exactly like this. because to me, it looks no different at all - minus the icing ( i haven't learned how to make an icing yet. baby steps friends, baby steps)

i think the background is being unjust here. i mean urgh if my muffins were put on the bed sheet runner like Athirah's, mine sure as hell will look tempting too! ahem. *suddenrivalalert* but it look the same kan? TELL ME IT LOOK THE SAME!

i can now cook maggie, simple chicken chop, nasi goreng (pfttt so senang i shouldn't mention it here), honey cornflakes (hahaha hope you don't remember!) and ahem chocolate muffins. ahem!

so i can charge my future husband a roughly 72k lah kan for my hantaran? it had to be something with number 2 and 7 okayyy - they are my favorite numbers!

but of course guys, if i were to charge my future Syed 72k, i must never show this to him or anyone that knows him.

HE SHOULD NEVER KNOW THAT MY MUFFINS ARE SO DIFFERENT IN SHAPE AND SIZE!

well well well, i figured that the normal round ones look pretty boring and not out of the box (ahem!), i had to improvise a little.

there are ovals, round looking so normal ones urgh boringgg, hexagon (spot it yourselves!) and other shapes that even me can't tell pftt! i'm creative like that, guys.

shhh, this will be our little secret ok? ;)

will share about the journey of me making chocolate muffins (especially saat-saat yang mendebarkan!) and some silly moments with you guys later, insyaallah if rajin and ada mood. hekhek. and the feedback from family and neighbours too! (yeah, my mom is so proud of me she gave the neighbour aunty to taste no kidding!)

PEREMPUAN CANTIK PON BOLEH MASAK TAU!

i have always secretly wanted to try baking. shhh it's a secret. you are not supposed to tell anyone.

i am 23 dan tidak pernah buat kek atau muffin atau cupcakes atau kuih raya atau apa-apa yang fancy. kek batik yang orang kata kacanggg tu pon tak pernah buat. T.T aku rasa orang yang pandai baking tu orang-orang yang cool dan artsy. mungkin sebab aku suka makan dan makanan, jadi aku pandang tinggi pada orang yang boleh baking. sebenarnya kan, senyap-senyap aku selalu google recipes. pastu tak nak kalah, bukan nak google recipe yang ayam-ayam. terus nak try buat red velvet lah, chocolate truffles lah. lepas tu stress sorang-sorang tengok list of ingredients yang nak kena cari sebab tak kenal and tak penah dengar. T.T bila dah stress, tutup tab recipes, bukak tab google image pulak. tengok red velvet, tengok cupcakes comel-comel dan tengok macaroons yang kiyut miyut. lepas tu air liur bergenang seperti air sungai yang mengalir lembut di pinggir bibir. sobs.

skang ni antara favourite channel aku adalah 703 dan 707 kat astro. kadang-kadang 702 sebab ada my kitchen rules. hewhewhew. kemain sambil dorang buat kek or masak tu sambil aku pon siap terangguk-angguk kat depan tv. ada tu kadang-kadang lepas tengok dorang masak tersaiko tetiba termasak jugak. tapi masak maggie aje lah. sobs. tapi sebab nak nampak macam fancy dan hebat, kemain taruk segala oregano, basil, thymes, lea n perrins semua dalam maggie goreng. ujung-ujung rasa macam makan kaki kepam, bukan maggi goreng. sobs.

jadi hari ini 13 september bersamaan dengan hujung-hujung syawal, aku pon mencuba lah feeling jadi pastry chef dengan cubaan membuat kuih raya. iya, kuih raya. tapi kuih raya yang ayam-ayam lah. cakap pasal kuih raya jangan lah ingat aku buat dodol ke almond london ke bahulu butterfly ke. itu ilmu memasak level 3. aku baru level 0.3. tampar kang. 

percubaan pertama menggunakan oven toh puan sri jen jen jengg adalah dengan membuat cornflakes madu. CORNFLAKES MADU. iya, cornflakes madu. kan itu kuih peberet kiteeeee time rayaaaa! tahun ni macam tak berapa dapat merasa cornflakes madu kat rumah orang. sobs. so bila toh puan sri ajak buat, laju aje aku bersetuju.

so.. bahagi-bahagikan tugas. toh puan sri punya keje just pre heat kan oven, jaga oven dan tolong sapu butter kat bekas cupcakes tu apa ke nama dia aku tak tau. yang lain serahkan pada aku. gittew.

tiada kismis atau pon apa ke rainbow rice ke kacang ke semua takde sebab aku suka kosong. kalau ada kismis otometik rasa macam potong gilaaa apa nieee lepas tu mula lah buat perangai pegi korek satu-satu kismis keluarkan. ini kalau pergi rumah bakal mak mentua ni ada jugak yang kena reject mentah-mentah ni. kakaka.

ini sebelum masuk oven. toh puan sri bising katanyaaa aku susun cornflakes dalam tray tak cantik. -.-' cantik-cantik susun pon kang lepas bakar masuk balang jugak, Mak. (opkos lah menjawab dalam hati aje chu olzzz. kalau jawab depan-depan ada jugak yang merasa ciyom bau syurga awal)

toh puan sri komen lagi "tak cantik lah cornflakes kau, kembangggg. macam kau jugak!" kemon lah chu olzzz kata pon first attempt, jemari virgin lagi tak biasa pegang kertas cupcakes gementar dia kemain rasa macam tengah ujibakat masterchef. haaaa, perempuan cantik pon boleh masak tauuuu! *nadasupergeletis*

2nd batch lupa nak pakai flash! sobs.

sebenarnya yang 2nd batch ni better lah sikit dari yang 1st batch tu dari segi susunan dia sebab katanyaaa practice makes perfect. takde lah kembang macam yang kat atas tu kannn. hihi.

settle susun dalam tray, sudah tiba masanya toh puan sri menjalankan tugas nya. oven dah pre heat awal-awal, everything is good. i am smiling ear to ear. so happy. finally! it's my first ever attempt in baking. cornflakes madu is my favourite! nyummeh. dapat ku bayangkan kesedapan kerangupan kemanisan hasil dari jemari virgin titewww. bayangkannnn~ dah lah dimasak dengan penuh kasih sayang. sambil susun dalam tray sambil belai-belai cornflakes madu dengan manja. bayangkannnnn~
